My husband and I stayed in the Royal Suite and it was beyond our expectations ! The Inn is beautifully appointed and we immediately felt as if it was our home away from home. Kathryn, the innkeeper did everything possible to make our stay a wonderful experience. Her breakfasts every morning were scrumptious and she remembered the various preferences and dietary restrictions of every guest at the Inn. The Inn is located in Innman Park, a great location for getting around the city and Krog Street Market is only 1 1/2 blocks away. We plan on returning to Sugar Magnolia again and again.
Best Value in Atlanta
We were spending one night in Atlanta to go to the Georgia Aquarium (which was wonderful by the way) and I discovered that this place was less money (or at least not more, depending on the rooms) then the hotels near the Aquarium. So I booked 2 rooms for a friend and myself, the Royal Suite and the Aviary. We arrived around 5:30PM and found letters by the front door with our keys and how to find our rooms. Since there are many reviews on this place I am not going to describe it except to say that we spent a lot of time on the private balcony with the rocking chairs that is off of the Royal Suite. It even had a second balcony in the back that was even larger. My criteria for a good place is a great shower, great bed & pillow, great location, great service, coffee available very early in the morning, and of course it must be very clean. For a great place it has to have all that and more, the intangible experience you get in a place of character & beauty. For Atlanta, I cannot imagine finding a better place to stay. There was a paper in each of our rooms that asked when we would like to have breakfast. When we came down at 8 AM like we requested, our hostess Kathryn was ready for us with coffee, orange juice and a fruit cup on the table. She then brought out homemade quiche and sausage. I realized I couldn't have quiche because I was temporarily lactose intolerant and told her so. She didn't even bat an eye and immediately offered to make me eggs. Kathryn is very personable and perfectly suited for her job. We only spent the one night but will go back some day.
A Little Piece of Heaven
As a seasoned world traveler, this beats all! The Royal Suite, with it's sky blue bed canopy (and stars!), the amazing bath, laid-back atmosphere and the free libations all combine for an incredible treat in the heart of Inman Park. Getting into and our of the city for business meetings is a breeze, and the route is a vision of city revitalization. My wife and I had the place to ourselves on the two days we were there, creating the irrepressible sense that we were hanging out in our own home! Although it's a heckuva long away from our home in Sydney Australia, we will definitely return to Sugar Magnolia when we visit Atlanta again!
Can't Rate this B&B High Enough!
What a wonderful weekend in Atlanta staying at what I consider the best house in the area! My husband and I have never stayed in a B&B and were thoroughly impressed. We went over labor day weekend and were booked into the Royal Suite. The room is huge complete with sitting area, 2 balconies, an enormous bath tub and walk in shower. I swear the room is bigger than our 1st condo. The innkeeper, Kathryn, was so warm and welcoming, and cooks a delicious Quiche Lorraine. The other guests were very friendly and we enjoyed getting to know them over breakfast.
The house itself is stunning beautiful and well cared for in the heart of Inman Park. The neighborhood is awesome with the Krog market just steps from the hotel and BoccaLupo practically next door; both places are must eats when staying here. We couldn't have been more pleased with both the B&B and the location. We will definitely be back.
Best place ever to stay in Atlanta
What a nice B&B. You get the authentic feeling being in the South. Great hospitality and a great well preserved southern mansion. The hostess Debi is very nice company and her innkeeper is doing all her best to make you comfortable with great success. The B&B is placed in a nice and safe neighborhood next to several very good restaurants, try Rathbun's,112 Krog St. just around the corner. You won´t regret it. Sugar Magnolia is just 2 minutes drive from Martin Luther king memorial. Stay in the royal suite as we did.
We spent two nights here while passing through Atlanta. The rooms were comfortable, beautifully furnished, and roomy. The bed was especially comfortable. Our room opened onto an upper level shared deck where we enjoyed a wine and cheese lunch. The screened back porch is a wonderful spot to sit and watch the rain. A large historic Queen Anne, the B & B is located on a quiet street but still pleasantly urban. Although several blocks to mass transit is doable, we reconsidered and went back out to the airport to rent a car to get around to see the sites more easily. The innkeeper is very friendly and helpful, and graciously offered and prepared me a gluten free breakfast substitute on the fly. Highly recommend you stay in this lovely old house.
Beautiful and Charming
We had a wonderful stay here and felt very taken care of. The accommodations are fantastic and romantic with great views and access to the city. It is set in a beautiful forested neighborhood. The beds are very comfortable and the mansion is a fascinating renovation from the 1890s. You will feel like you are in the old south! The service is wonderful and the staff is excellent and caring. Highly recommended!
